Affordable Vein Treatments Without Compromising Quality
Varicose veins are twisted, bulging blood vessels near the surface of your skin. They appear blue, purple or red and may develop in clusters on your legs, ankles or feet. Varicose veins can be a cosmetic issue, but they also can cause pain and other symptoms. Treatments include compression stockings, medical procedures and self-care. In addition to the above, Center For Advanced Vein Care offers Excel V+ Laser treatments to zap small spider veins and sclerotherapy for larger spider veins on your face, neck, arms, hands or back. The Excel V+ Laser uses a heating + cooling laser technology that’s incredibly effective at zapping the veins without damaging surrounding tissue. Ask your doctor if the Excel V+ Laser is right for you.
Most people with varicose veins don’t have serious symptoms. Over-the-counter or prescription painkillers can ease the discomfort. If you have a medical condition that increases your risk of varicose veins, your doctor will recommend treatment. These conditions include:
Blood clots can form in varicose veins, causing a life-threatening illness called deep vein thrombosis (DVT). This occurs when a blood clot forms in a vein in your leg and travels to the lungs, blocking your blood flow and causing a serious health problem. If you have DVT, your doctor will give you drugs to prevent a clot from forming in your legs again.
Varicose veins can also lead to another serious condition called chronic venous insufficiency, which happens when a varicose vein becomes damaged and doesn’t properly pump blood out of your legs. If left untreated, this condition can lead to severe leg ulcers.
The most effective treatments for varicose veins are non-invasive and can be performed right in your doctor’s office. They include sclerotherapy, which involves injecting a solution or foam into the varicose vein, sealing it. Over time, the treated varicose vein will fade. Your doctor may use a smaller needle than usual when they inject the sclerotherapy agent to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction.
Another procedure is endovenous thermal ablation, which uses a laser or radiofrequency waves to create heat in the varicose vein. This heat seals the varicose vein and stops blood flow to it, causing the vein to shrink and eventually disappear.
Lastly, your doctor can surgically remove your varicose veins through a minimally invasive procedure called ambulatory phlebectomy. This is the best treatment for varicose veins that are close to the surface of your skin. Your provider makes small cuts or a series of tiny needle punctures over the affected veins and then uses a hook to remove them.
